Gran Vía in Madrid offers a wide range of shows together with other options to go shopping or to eat out. This street, apart from acting as one of the main arteries of the capital, offers an endless number of plans for all tastes, especially if you like theatre.

Gran Vía has been named as the Broadway of Madrid because it has become a point of reference of theatre. There are theatres as renowned as Lope de Vega, which presents performances such as The Lion King.

Another important theatre in Madrid is Teatro de la Luz Philips Gran Vía, formerly known as Teatro Compac Gran Vía. Its listing includes from monologues to ballet performances such as the Swan Lake or The Nutcracker. Next to this theatre we can find the Pequeño Teatro Gran Vía. Although it is a smaller and modest theatre, it counts with a great offer you must not take your eye off.

If you like cinema apart from theatre, Cines Capitol are a must-see. If you are lucky, you will be able to attend a release in a Hollywood-style atmosphere. Cines Capitol are common cinemas where latest movies are played, but they also offer performances such as the opera Rigoletto or the ballet The Nutcracker, which will be released within the next few weeks.

You can reach these theatres hopping off the bus at the stop Gran Vía, 54 (number 8 of the route Historical Madrid operated by Madrid City Tour).
