Museo de Arte Público

  • Extended Route 2: Modern Madrid

The Museo de Arte Público has an excellent collection of Spanish abstract sculpture and is structured over three levels, descending from Serrano Street to the paseo de la Castellana. The purpose of the museum was to recover an urban space for common use, making it a transition, landing, and recreation area, and to bring Spanish abstract art closer to the public. Its collection is formed by works of Joan Miró, Alberto Sánchez, Julio González and 'The Stranded Mermaid' by Eduardo Chillida.
